BioTek Epoch Microplate Spectrophotometer
The BioTek Epoch is a compact, monochromator-based microplate spectrophotometer that measures absorbance across a wide wavelength range of 200–999 nm in 1 nm increments — with no need for interchangeable filters. It supports 6- to 384-well microplate formats and offers multiple read modes: endpoint, kinetic, spectral scanning, and well area scanning, completing a full 96-well sweep in as little as 15 seconds.
The Epoch is widely used for ELISA assays, nucleic acid and protein quantification, and colorimetric cell-based assays. It features built-in pathlength correction for direct concentration measurements and is compatible with Take3 micro-volume plates for quantifying samples as small as 2 µL. The instrument is controlled by Gen5 data analysis software, which includes pre-programmed protocols and comprehensive data processing tools. Its compact footprint (≈30×32×20 cm, ~6.5 kg) makes it suitable for any laboratory bench.
