President of Israel Ezer Weizman
The opening of the Basil and Gerald Felsenstein Medical Research Center is an occasion for celebration in the deepest sense of the word. The founders, Alan and Priscilla Fenton, are enabling Kupat Holim to conduct clinical research under optimum conditions. Many an adult and child may be saved, and—who knows—the Israeli and new immigrant scientists working here may, among other things, contribute significantly to the struggle against such terribly threatening and elusive diseases as cancer, AIDS, and Alzheimer's.
I congratulate Kupat Holim and particularly Beilinson Hospital, but above all Alan and Priscilla Fenton for establishing so noble and life-giving a memorial to their two heroic pilot brothers who fell in World War II.
They fought for humanity. The center named for them will be aiding humanity here in Israel and throughout the world.
