The Felsenstein Medical Research Center (FMRC)serves as a unique hub for translational medical research, grounded in the integration of multidisciplinary laboratories operating in close physical proximity, strong ties with leading clinical centers, and a deep and ongoing strategic partnership with Tel Aviv University. This partnership enables tight integration between basic research, clinical research, and the training of the next generation of physician-scientists and researchers in medicine and the life sciences.

The Center is located at the heart of a leading clinical campus that includes Rabin Medical Center, Schneider Children’s Medical Center, and Geha Mental Health Center.

The collaboration with Tel Aviv University is reflected in the integration of FMRC researchers within academic frameworks, the supervision of graduate students, the development of joint research projects, and the advancement of pathways to clinical and research excellence. This connection constitutes a central foundation for the development of innovative research.

The Center houses basic and molecular research laboratories alongside clinical and translational research labs, covering a wide range of fields in medical and biological sciences, as well as dedicated research platforms and infrastructures that support advanced multidisciplinary activity. The integration of these laboratory types under one roof enables daily collaboration, scientific cross-fertilization, and the translation of knowledge into research with applied potential.

Research activity at the Center spans diverse fields, including oncology and hematology, cardiology, immunology, neuroscience, psychiatry, gastroenterology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and nephrology. In parallel, advanced research platforms and technological infrastructures operate to facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations and the development of innovative research with practical applications.

At the core of the Center’s activities stands a broad research community, comprising physician-scientists, scientists, graduate students, and a skilled professional support system in veterinary services, infrastructure, technology, and administration. The contribution of all teams is essential to ensuring continuous, high-quality research activity that meets the highest scientific and regulatory standards.

The Center’s leadership envisions strengthening and expanding FMRC’s position as a leading research center in Israel and on the international stage. This will be pursued, among other approaches, through deepening collaboration with Tel Aviv University, developing additional academic partnerships, continuous upgrading of research infrastructures and platforms, and the integration of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence in research and medicine.

The Center’s management is committed to professional dialogue, collaborative management, and joint action with its academic and clinical partners, to advance scientific excellence and secure the future of FMRC.
